Update: One lane open on Highway 99 southbound after serious crash

One lane (only) is getting through southbound now, according to DriveBC. 

"Crews remain on the scene."

Expect delays and watch for traffic control.

It is best to avoid heading southbound tonight, if you can.

Highway 99 is currently closed (10:32 p.m.) southbound near Lions Bay tonight, July 19, after a serious crash earlier this evening. 

The RCMP’s Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (LMD-ICARS) has been deployed to the crash near Ocean Point Dr., according to a post from Cpl. Dave Noon, of ICARS.

The specially trained officers are called out to do forensic reconstruction of crashes that result in serious injury or death.

The serious motor vehicle incident involved a motorcycle. 

The crash happened a little after 9 p.m.. 

There is no anticipated time for reopening.

No matter which direction you are headed expect delays.
