HMCS Edmonton is pulling into the Squamish Terminals for Remembrance Day Thursday (Nov. 11).

"They're going to join us for our Remembrance Day ceremonies," said Bruce Proudfoot, the sergeant-at-arms for the Royal Canadian Legion Diamond Head Branch #227. "They are going to join us and march with our veterans."

"I think it's going to be a big day for Squamish," he said.

The personnel of the ship (between 12 to 30 individuals) will probably be bused back and forth between Brennan Park Recreation Centre and the ship.

"They've invited our mayor, the veterans and the president of the branch to have tea in their ward room," said Lise Marier of the Legion, pointing out the ward room is usually off limits to the public.

But the public can get on board too.

They hope to open up to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. so all the public in Squamish can have a look on the deck, Proudfoot said.
