The hills of Valleycliffe will be alive with the sound of joyful screams Saturday (May 29) with the return of Beyond the Valleycliffe of the Dolls.
" This event is the product of a firmly held belief that freeriders like to ride, compete, get prizes and party just as much as the cross-country kids," says organizer Bryan Raiser.
The event has evolved from its first, year, when the grand prize was a half-hour session at Squamish's finest brothel. Last year there was a barbecue on the top of FM Tower. "This year we just might make a movie," says Raiser.
The event is not just about speed records, but also about style, especially at particularly scary sessions labeled Double Dog Dares, where the showboaters can strut their stuff and be judged (trials style) by the Double Dare Doll, with a trophy awarded to the winner at the end of the day.The madness starts at 11 a.m. sharp at the end of Westway Avenue (access from Raven's Plateau). Registration forms are available at Corsa Cycles, Tantalus Bike Shop and online at cynicalsunshine.com.
The cost is $30 for Cycling BC members OR $40 for non-members, including a free entry to the BVOD after party at the Howe Sound Inn and Brewing Company with personal pizza and beverage.
