Squamish Minor Hockey Association hosts Thanksgiving Day tournament

Squamish Minor Hockey Association hosted its first of seven tournaments over the Thanksgiving Day weekend. Eleven teams lined up to compete against the Squamish Eagles Peewee A team. Some of the teams came from as far as Kamloops, Victoria and Powell River to lace up their skates in the Ice Breakers Peewee A tournament.

Squamish team went 4-1 beating Hollyburn 6-1, Kerry Park (Victoria) 7-4, Port Moody 6-5 in a shootout, and Langley 5-3. The team lost in the finals to the Powell River Kings, 5-2.

Squamish Eagles are coached by Tim Knight, assistant coaches Danny brooks and Ryan Liebrecht and managed by Jen Thompson.

Players are goaltenders #1 Andrew Terry and #35 Brydan Denis. Defenseman #4 Tyler Liebrecht,  #10 Logan O’Sullivan, 16 Aedan Loughran and #17 Austin Cranfield. Forwards #5 Jobey Pearson, #6Max Richard, #8 Ryan Hunter, #9 Jake Heppell, #12 Markus Hernandez, #14 Ben Thompson, #15 Ethan Skiffington, and #19 Marcus Rempel.

SMHA is excited to host six more tournaments through the remainder of the year. With these seven tournaments the community will have over 70 out of town teams visiting Squamish.
