Men's league soccer goes to semi-finals

Sports

It's not the top teams that are keeping fans in suspense in the G & T Pool and Spa Men's Soccer League cup playoffs, it's the middle placed teams.

While top team Whistler FC gave bottom team Lil'Wat7uhl an expected trouncing with a final score of 6-1 Sunday (April 3) at Centennial Fields, Ocean Port and Brew Pub had a grudge match that went into overtime and finally ended in a shootout of penalty kicks. Although Brew Pub was more aggressive and had more scoring opportunities throughout the game, they ended up launching the ball above the net during the last penalty kick assuring Ocean Port of the win with a score of 2-1.

The loss sends Brew Pub to the consolation round, the semi-finals of the Divisional Cup, where they'll face Lil'WAT7uhl, while Lions Gate Ink faces Canex Thunder. Ocean Port, however, joins the top four teams playing Whistler FC, while MBC Rangers plays Ellis Moving during the Premiership Cup semi-finals this Sunday (April 10) starting at 10 a.m. at Centennial Fields.
