The Squamish women’s hockey team, Squamish Wild, recently returned from a tournament in Powell River.
While they didn't bring home the championship, they did win Most Sportsmanlike Team.
"We’re proud of the heart, hustle, and humour we brought to every game," said Ebony Roberts of Squamish Wild.
"Despite taking five hard losses, we kept spirits high, and in the final minutes of our last game, our own Sarah Kennedy scored a beautiful goal in her hometown. The crowd went wild, and it was a perfect cap to a gritty, memorable weekend," added Roberts, who also shouted out local sponsors who helped outfit the team in fresh jerseys and socks for the tournament, and provided some "much-needed" celebratory beers after the games.
"As one of our players, I just want to say how proud I am of this team. We play hard, we support each other even harder, and we show up with full hearts and a lot of laughs. This crew is pure Squamish spirit."
