WHL roundup: Red Deer Rebels beat Prince Albert Raiders for fourth win in five

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — The Red Deer Rebels have now won four of their last five, after a 2-1 win over the Prince Albert Raiders.

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — The Red Deer Rebels have now won four of their last five, after a 2-1 win over the Prince Albert Raiders.

Hunter Mayo and Ben King had the goals for the Rebels (27-13-2-1) while Chase Coward backstopped the team stopping 23 of24 shots.

The Raiders (15-22-1-1) consolation goal came from Ozzy Wiesblatt.

BLADES 6, OIL KINGS 1

SASKATOON, Sask. - The Saskatoon Blades scored four unanswered goals at they downed the Oil Kings 6-1 on Friday.

The Blades (22-15-1-1) had help from six different scorers, as captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere had a goal and two assists in the outing.

The Oil Kings (30-10-2-1) came in to Friday's tilt looking for a fourth straight win.

WARRIORS 3, BRONCOS 1

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Josh Filmon opened the scoring for the Swift Current Broncos but it turned in to a rough night ending in a 3-1 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Eric Alarie scored two goals for the Warriors (23-16-3-1) for their eighth win in their last 10 games.

It was the Broncos (15-22-4-1) fifth loss in six games.

HURRICANES 5, PATS 4

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - A strong second and third period helped the Lethbridge Hurricanes edge the Regina Pats 5-4.

Ryker Evans had two goals on the night for Regina (16-20-0-1) to extend their losing streak to four.

Left winger Justin Hall had a goal and two assists for Lethbridge (16-18-2-1).

THUNDERBIRDS 7, COUGARS 2

KENT, Wash. - The Seattle Thunderbirds scored four goals before the Prince George Cougars could respond, as they romped to a 7-2 win.

Winger Lukas Svejkovsky had two goals in the winning effort for the Thunderbirds (23-11-4-1).

The Cougars (18-21-2-1) have now lost four of their last five games.

WINTERHAWKS 6, AMERICANS 0

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Portland Winterhawks kept their hot streak rolling with a 6-0 rout of the Tri-City Americans on Friday.

The Winterhawks (25-11-3-2) are currently third in the Western Conference and have now won eight straight games.

The Americans (12-23-4-0) have lost their fifth straight game.

SILVERTIPS 4, ROYALS 2

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips hit four past Victoria Royals' netminder Arnold Campbell as they cruised to a 4-2 win.

Winger Niko Huuhtanen had a goal and an assist for the Silvertips (30-7-2-2) in the win.

Gannon Laroque had the same for the Royals (12-23-4-1).

ROCKETS 4, CHIEFS 1

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Kelowna Rockets sealed a 4-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs with two goals in 30 seconds in the final frame.

Mark Liwiski scored two for the Rockets (22-10-1-3) while Bear Hughes grabbed a consolation goal for the Chiefs (12-23-3-1).

With the win, the Rockets stretched their winning streak to seven games.

BLAZERS 3, GIANTS 2

LANGLEY, B.C. - The Kamloops Blazers rebounded from going behind early against the Vancouver Giants to a 3-2 win Friday night.

Fraser Minten and Matthew Seminoff both had a goal and an assist for the Blazers (28-11-1-0) who have now won their last four meetings against their B.C. rivals.

Zack Ostapchuk scored the tying goal for the Giants (16-21-2-0).
