The search is still on for 37-year-old Squamish resident Jason Fryers.
Fryers' younger sister, Stephanie Fryers told The Chief in an email that her brother moved to Squamish from back east in April 2017 to be with family and in search of more opportunities.
"With family out there we thought it was a positive choice and supported the decision," Stephanie wrote.
In the last few weeks of March this year, communication from Fryers to his family stopped, Stephanie said, except for a quick conversation with their younger sister on April 5.
"This is uncharacteristic of Jason as we are a close family and we always keep each other up to date even if it is just a weekly message," she said.
Stephanie said the family has reached out to Fryers' girlfriend, who moved to B.C. shortly after he did, but she has not responded.
The family reported Fryers missing to the RCMP on May 27. The police put out a press release to ask the public for help finding the man, saying they are concerned for his health and wellbeing.
Fryers is described as a white man with brown hair and hazel eyes. He's five feet and eight inches tall, with a medium build.
