Among the 36 nominees for the 2020 Women of Distinction Awards is Squamish's Meredith Adler.

Adler, the executive director of Student Energy, is in the running for the environmental sustainability category. Since she joined the global non-profit in 2015, she has helped the organization to reach 50,000 youth in 150 countries. Adler also co-designed post-secondary clubs to help teach students how to take action on energy in their communities. In 2019, Adler worked with the government of Canada on the first young leaders' delegation in Vancouver, bringing 60 people from 25 countries together.

This is the 37th year of the Women of Distinction Awards, which honour women and organizations who contribute to the well being and future of the community.

The public can vote online for nominees to win the Connecting the Community Award until April 24. The winner gets to choose a YWCA program that will receive a $10,000 donation. The award ceremony will be on May 11.
