The annual Remembrance Day service held at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre is always filled to capacity and this year will be no exception on Monday (Nov. 11) at 11 a.m. The parade will be led into the auditorium by the Royal Canadian Legion #277 Colour Party, Sgt-At-Arms Ryan Pedersen and the Black Tusk Caledonia Pipe Band. Also participating will be Air and Sea Cadets, RCMP members, Scout and Guide groups and ambulance and Coast Guard members. You are asked to be seated by 10:45 a.m.
On Sunday (Nov. 10) the Colour Party and other Legion members will attend the annual Remembrance Day service at 10 a.m. at St. John's Anglican Church.
The Howe Sound Performing Arts Association is sponsoring a fundraiser for AME (Access Music Education) at Eagle Eye Theatre tomorrow evening (Friday, Nov. 8) at 7 p.m. The event is entitled "Spirit of Video Games" with local singers, dancers and musicians performing music from new and classic video games. Admission is by donation.
Vancouver Coastal Health is holding drop-in clinics for flu shots at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre today (Thursday, Nov. 7) from 3 to 6 p.m. and on Thursdays (Nov. 14, 21 and 28) at the same time. The annual Senior Citizens' Christmas Dinner will be held in the Seniors Centre on Friday (Dec. 6) with doors open at 5 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by the District of Squamish and the Squamish Seniors' Centre Society and the cost is $17 per person. The evening also includes music, dancing and entertainment. Tickets are now on sale at the centre and cash only please.
Counselling Children with Nature in Mind with guest speaker Adrian Juric takes place at the Squamish Public Library tonight (Thursday, Nov. 7) from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friends of the Library have a book sale on Saturday (Nov. 16) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday (Nov. 17) from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please, no text books, Reader's Digest, National Geographic magazines or encyclopedias.
St. John's Anglican Church is sponsoring its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday (Nov. 16) from 10 a.m. until noon. I'll have more details in next week's column.
The members of the Women's Auxiliary to Squamish General Hospital will be at Wal-Mart tomorrow and Saturday (Nov. 8 and 9) and at Nesters Market on Nov. 15 and 16 selling tickets on their raffle with prizes of $3,000, $200 and $100. The draw will be held at their annual Christmas Bazaar on Nov. 30.

The bald eagles are arriving and the Eagle Watch Program needs you. They are hosting a volunteer training session on Wednesday (Nov. 13) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Squamish Adventure Centre. Every Saturday and Sunday from the end of November to early February, volunteers will ne on hand at the Eagle Run viewing dike from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. No experience needed.
