Instead of criticizing the Squamish Nation for erecting the electronic billboard, we should applaud them for yet another manifestation of joining the mainstream economy.
We can only hope that at least one of the display booths now being put up along the Sea to Sky Highway for showcasing aboriginal history and culture to visitors will be dedicated to also showing how the Nation made the successful switch from traditional hunting, fishing and gathering to joining the economy of mindless consumption and money spinning that we have all come so much to depend on.
