Editor,

Wow Squamish! Friday Dec. 11: I have never been so proud of our community.

The cheers and great community spirit was just amazing during the Santa Parade and North Pole elves play area!

Everyone was so happy, singing and dancing in the huge crowds of people. The enthusiasm that the crowds showed me for planning our parade was nothing I could ever even dreamed of - I felt like a star on the red carpet.

The participants for the parade were so full of Christmas spirit and went far beyond my wildest dreams to make this parade big, bold and beautiful as I had requested.

The lights, music, carolers, characters and such were great. Squamish you really showed us what we would have been missing if the parade had been canceled.

Words can't express the gratitude to the wonderful sponsors Squamish Savings and Advance, you really stepped up when we needed you.

The donations that came in from around the community to make this event possible were very greatly appreciated. I can't even imagine Christmas without a Santa Parade. The joy in the eyes of the children both young and old was something I will cherish forever. Santa Claus you were the twinkle in everyone's eyes, your waves and cheers on the snowmobile were loved by all as you road the streets of downtown Squamish on Hunter's donated truck/trailor.

BMO raising $450 for Christmas Care was great. The treat stations that were all donated by local businesses was a new idea and I was told it was a great success. I honestly felt that Squamish really enjoyed themselves on this cold but festive night.

With the number of phone calls, emails, and pats on the back by family, friends and even strangers really made me very proud to be a local volunteer for our community, words can't express my appreciation to you all.

The compliments were great but I honestly feel I couldn't have done it without my amazing team of volunteers and our wonderful community, this was definitely a team effort. Working with the crew from the Chamber was a great honour, the support you gave to me was just wonderful.

The advertising done by The Chief was greatly appreciated. My biggest helper who went far beyond was my wonderful dad (Bob Granger) who stepped up and went way beyond his dad duties, thanks for being my hero! Squamish we would love to here your comments in regards to what we could do to make Santa Parade 2010 & North Pole Elves Play Area even better [email protected] for 2010.

If anyone has some space for us to store all the decorations, costumes, lights and such please send us an email, as we are in great need of a place.

Thanks again Squamish for making me proud of our community.
