I read the special feature on Russia’s attack on Ukraine, “Squamish-Ukrainians nervously await news while hoping for peace,”
in the March 17th edition of The Squamish Chief. I was happy to see the suggestion to donate to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian people are in a fight for their lives. I have chosen to donate to the Ukrainian army.
It is impossible to talk peace when someone is trying to murder you.
Mass murder of Ukrainians is taking place now in full view of a world, which refuses to fight with the Ukrainians, frightened by the criminal Putin.
Help the brave women and men, young and old, who are not afraid.
Who fight on despite terrible odds against criminals who intentionally bomb hospitals and schools.
Terrorism on an industrial scale.
The dead litter the streets of modern European cities. Too many to give proper burial amid the constant bombardment. Mass graves are dug.
Millions of refugees, mostly women and children, left with nothing.
All in the space of weeks. Words will not stop the killing. Give to the only thing which can stop the killing. Give to the Ukrainian army. The National Bank of Ukraine has set up a special fund. Google, “How can I donate to the Ukrainian army?” Be sure it is through the National Bank of Ukraine.
Choose to help in a meaningful way.
Putin has killed before.
He is killing now.
He will kill in the future.
The modern world is a small place; there is nowhere to hide from the bombs.
Downtown Squamish reduced to rubble. Schools are burning shells. The hospital blown up. Loved ones dead in the street. Constant explosions fill the air. The next second maybe your last. Image the horror?
This is a reality today for 44 million people.
Give to the Ukrainian army.
