How exciting for the staff of Squamish's Canine Valley Re-education and Adventure Centre Society to have had a private audience with famed dog trainer Cesar Millan last week! Millan is the star of the TV show The Dog Whisperer. The meeting took place on Nov. 6 in Abbotsford. Canine Valley's owner, Valley Calderoni, is an ambassador of Millan and his training methods, and this was her third meeting with him.

"This time I brought my entire team and I think it made an impact on him," Calderoni said, adding that Millan was "really impressed" that the Canine Valley staff does pack walks and follows many of the other methods Millan teaches for helping dogs and their owners form a more harmonious relationship.

Whistle Stop Boutique is very happy to be celebrating both 35 years in business in Squamish and the re-opening of their ladies' clothing boutique in its new location! To mark the occasion they are hosting an in-store Art Fashion Show on Saturday (Nov. 17) from 1 to 2:30 p.m., at their new location at 38043 Cleveland (beside Scotiabank). Visiting and local artists and designers have created one-of-a-kind scarves - some of the pieces are completely non-functional works of art made from various materials including wood and metal.Participating artists include: Patricia Chauncey, textile artist, Vancouver; Margie McDonald, metal artist, Washington; Martin Thorne, wood artist; Krisztina Egyed, sculptor; Breanna Wilson, mixed media and spoken word; and textile artists Suzanne Glick, Myriam Millins, Wazzo Kuku, Carol Ann Berkley, Virginia Reid, Vikki Michele, Janet Dundas, Jama Hanson, Hazel Whitehead and Lynn Wong. Julianna, Kathy and Krisztina welcome everyone! I am looking forward to seeing these unique scarves, especially the wooden one made by Squamish's very talented wood artist, Martin Thorne!
