Re. "Does remorse expunge heinous crimes?" Outside the Box, Chief, March 18.
The harsh reality of what seemingly lets killers run wild is that the judge is a professional, has done his homework and sees that in one case the spouse showed remorse, has to live with the fact his actions were heinous. So accept the fact and move on with what's left of the family, as the judge is there for a reason and is dealing with the family as a whole. (The perpetrator) has to pick up what's left. He moved on he has to live with his actions.
