The Children's Sports have been part of this weekend for many, many years and the fun and action gets underway on Saturday (Aug. 4) at 9:30 a.m. at Stan Clarke Park. Kids, don't forget to decorate your bike or trike and be eligible for prizes. There is usually hot dogs and soft drinks for everyone.

The price is right for attending the Novice and Intermediate Loggers Sports at the Al McIntosh Sports Grounds on Saturday at $2 for adults and $1 for seniors and children under 12 years. Be sure to buy a delicious beef burger served up by the Squamish Rotary Club.

If you like playing bingo, be at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre on Saturday (Aug. 4) for the annual Giant Bingo Night sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion, Lions Club of Squamish and the Squamish Days Loggers Sports Association. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:45 p.m. This event is for those 19 years and over.

Start the day on Sunday (Aug. 5) with a delicious pancake breakfast served up by the Squamish Elks and Lions Clubs. It is at the Chieftain Centre in downtown Squamish from 7 to 11 a.m.

When attending the Squamish Days Festival Parade that travels up Cleveland Avenue to the Bank of Montreal on Sunday (Aug. 5) at 11 a.m., please remember the Squamish Food Bank. Volunteers will be on the parade route accepting non-perishable food items and cash donations.

Top the day off by attending the World Class Open Loggers Sports Show at the Al McIntosh Loggers Sports Grounds starting at 1:30 p.m. This is really a great show of talent and if you have visitors, be sure and take them to this event.

Join the Seniors Centre staff on a fun trip to three waterfalls in the Sea to Sky Corridor on Tuesday (Aug. 7) with the bus leaving at 9 a.m. The first stop will be Nairn Falls near Pemberton, followed by Alexander Falls in the Callaghan Valley and the last stop will be at Brandywine Falls. There will be a lunch stop (not included in the $5 cost) on the way. Some walking along flat ground but on uneven terrain to viewpoints is required.

The Squamish Seniors' Centre Society is hosting its annual Summer BBQ on the Patio on Friday, Aug. 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. Hamburgers and chicken burgers will be served along with a no-host bar. The popular Squamish Fiddlers will provide the entertainment. Don't miss out! Tickets are $10 and available at the front desk.

You Are Not What You Eat is the name of the book written by Van Clayton Powel and he will be giving a free presentation at the Squamish Public Library on Thursday (Aug. 9) from 7 to 8 p.m. He said it is not what to eat, but how to eat for optimal health and performance.

The Healthy Brain Group for Older Adults will meet at the Squamish Mental Health office at 38075 Second Ave. on Tuesday (Aug. 7) from 10 to 11:30 a.m. For more information, please contact Delores Stewart at (604) 892-6400. The group will not meet again until Sept. 4.

Each Thursday from 12:30 to 3 p.m., Afternoon Tea and Scones is served in the education room at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park and the cost is $6 per person. This is a great place to take your summer visitors.

End the Loggers Sports weekend by taking in the Acoustic Jam at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Sunday (Aug. 5) from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Visitors always receive a warm welcome.

The Interpretive Walking Series on Wednesday (Aug. 8) will be a Quest University walk and led by Dawn Green and Meg Fellowes. The group meets at the Seniors Centre at 9:30 a.m. and the cost is $5 payable at the front desk.

The WOW riders will meet on Monday (Aug. 6) at 9 a.m. at the Adventure Centre to plan their ride. For more information, call Shirley at (604) 898-5715 or Thea at (604) 898-1695.

The Over the Hill Hikers will meet at 8 a.m. (note earlier time) on Tuesday (Aug. 7) at Ross and Government roads for a Taylor Meadows/Garibaldi Lake hike. Call Heather at (604) 892-9003 for more information.

The Tantalus Walking Club will meet at the Fisherman's entrance off Spit Dyke for a swan walk on Thursday (Aug. 9) at 10 a.m. Call Joyce at (604) 898-5594 for more information.
