With the first snowfall of the season upon us in the Sea to Sky and Whistler Blackcomb now open, here’s a song for locals to sing as we watch the folks from the city try to make it up to the resort on their bald tires.
This is based on the song “Splish Splash” by Bobby Darin.
Splish splash, I was taking a drive
Long about a Saturday night, yeah
Got my grub, my wheels tight to my hub
Thinking everything was alright
Well, I headed up Highway 99, put my foot to the floor
I wrapped the car around me and made sure she was in high four
And then splish, splash, turned to snow and ice
Well, how was I to know there was a slip-and-slide party going on?
Several cars were a-slipping and a sliding, reeling with the feeling
Moving and a-grooving, rocking and a-rolling, yeah
Bing bang, I saw the whole gang
Hitting the brakes in front of me
Flip flop, they were doing the bop
All the cars without snow tires had the dancing bug
There was flip-flop-wearing Peggy Sue
Good golly, Miss Motorbike Molly was-a even there, too
A-well-a, mish mash, luckily
I had went and put my cars’ snow shoes on, yeah
So, I was a rolling and a-strolling right to Whistler
I was a rollin’ and a-strollin’, reelin’ with the feelin’
Movin’ and a-groovin’—not slipping and-a-sliding
Stay safe out there, folks.
