Squamish Food drive kicks off

Maureen Gilmour talks about the events around town
File photo The Squamish Food Bank is kicking off its Thanksgiving drive, handing empty grocery bags starting Sept. 15.

The 6th annual BC Thanksgiving Food Drive (BCTFD) working alongside the Squamish Food Bank, the Squamish Multi-Faith Association and a host of wonderful community volunteers will deliver donation bags during the week of Sept. 15 to 20 to various neighbourhoods in Squamish.

The bags will be picked up on the morning of Sept. 20 and brought to the collection station at 42081 Ross Road in Brackendale. Those who don’t receive a bag can still drop off non-perishable food donations at the same address on collection day.

Last year, over 7,000 lbs of food was collected for the food bank. This was made possible through a collaborative effort and the generosity of Squamish residents.

For info on this food drive or how you can help out, please contact Barb Hayden, the food drive co-ordinator at (604) 892-9094, Christine Rupp at (604) 815-7332 or Geraldine Guilfoyle, Squamish Multi-faith Association at (604) 898-1740.
