When out shopping, consider giving a donation to the Community Christmas Care. There are several ways to do that and one that is easy, is donating non-perishable food items in the specially marked boxes in the super market or at churches in the area. Cash donations can be dropped off at Squamish Savings or mailed to Squamish Community Christmas Care, P.O. Box 516, Squamish V8B 0A4. Application forms for recipients are available at local churches, Sea to Sky Community Services, Helping Hands, Howe Sound Women's Centre, The Mini Flea Market or email communitychristmascare.com. The deadline for accepting applications is Sunday (Dec. 9).
Team Squamish members will be out on Wednesday (Dec. 5) between 5 to 7 p.m. collecting food for the food bank. They will be out walking and/or on their bikes in the Garibaldi Highlands and Garibaldi Estates neighbourhoods and they'll be wearing their uniforms so everyone will know who they are. Hopefully they will be able to collect a fair amount of food and help give back to those in need within the community.
The 25th anniversary of Carol's Carols is planned for Sunday (Dec. 2) at 6:30 p.m. is Squamish United Church on Fourth Avenue. Performers (along with super organizer Carol Grolman) include the Brackendale Elementary School Choir, the United Church Choir, the Squamish Youth Chorus, Emma Wong, Ashley Schulte, Sophie Hill, Carolyn Grass, Kayla Matzen and many more talented musicians and singers. Refreshments will be available and cash donations to Community Care is your admission fee.
There is still time to take in Between Shifts Theatre's performances of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure. The play runs tonight, Friday and Saturday (Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1) at 7:30 p.m. each night in the Eagle Eye Theatre.

The Britannia Mine Museum is inviting Squamish-area residents to its second annual Community Day on Saturday, Dec. 8. For a donation of your choice, you can take in the museum and celebrate the season with a visit from Santa and the lighting of the Super Truck at 4 p.m. This is the museum's chance to say "thank you" to all who have supported the museum this year.
The 4th Squamish Scouts are having their annual Christmas Tree Sales Opening Day and Garage Sale on Saturday (Dec. 1) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the On the Farm Garden Centre. Donations of items for the garage sale may be made by calling (604) 898-8441. Christmas trees will be on sale daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) throughout December, when patrons can get their trees and support their local Scouts.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit the West Coast Railway Heritage Park each evening from Monday (Dec. 3) to Friday (Dec. 7) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Check out the North Pole decorations, ride the mini-rail around the CN Roundhouse and of course, sit on Santa's knee and tell him all your dreams. This will be a great chance for mums and dads to capture special photos. Everyone is welcome and the admission fee is $5.

The annual Realtors' Care Blanket Drive is requesting donations of blankets and clothing as well as sleeping bags, toiletries and tents and they will be accepted at any real estate office in the community until Monday (Dec. 3).
An important meeting for seniors 50 years and up will be held at the Seniors Centre on Monday (Dec. 3) from 3:30 to 5 p.m. As part of ongoing consultation on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, the consultant team and district staff wish to meet with seniors to discuss draft recommendations related to the Seniors Centre and other parks and recreation recommendations related to seniors. The consultant will present proposed revisions to the draft recommendations, based on feedback and further review. Staff and consultants will use this opportunity to clarify concerns related to the Seniors Centre and to build a vision for the future with an aim of support from the general seniors 50-plus population in Squamish. This meeting will focus on the future of the Seniors Centre as well as other issues affecting all seniors in our community.

The Women's Auxiliary to Squamish General Hospital held a successful bazaar on Nov. 24 and the raffle winners were: Hailey Jackson (handmade quilt), Teresa Harry ($250), and Crystal Elson ($125).
