EDITOR,

From early July to the middle of September 2013, I attended class in a conference-style room energized by a combined 600 years of diversified wisdom emanated from 10 Baby Boomers. I was one of the 10 people who participated in the 10-week Encore Employment Program ran by Training Innovations (www.encorebc.ca) for the mature job seekers. By the time this letter is published almost all 10 of us had found a new job after we completed the program. This is amazing for 10 mature job seekers who had no jobs at the start of the program!

The Encore Program is more than crafting a professional résumé and cover letter. The core content of the program imparts refreshing, stimulating, and thought-provoking knowledge that can supercharge job seekers' job search skills by leaps and bounds. It also helps you analyze who you really are so you don't waste time finding the wrong job that will suck the life out of you! Believe it! Your personality type matters in your job search!

Participants in the program also have opportunities to visit and meet with local employers for informational conversations about various employees and work-related topics. How can you top that for an amazing chance for job seekers to be mentored by potential employers? Outstanding curriculum!

However, the part of the program I love most is the group support. I'm touched by the instant friendship and inspired by the sharing of advice with our group from diversified walks of life. Our group atmosphere was a bright, sunny day every day I attended the class. There is not a dull moment while we engage in constructive discussion, laughter, applause, coffee and occasional muffins. If our group was a football team, we certainly started our class with a loud "3-2-1 Hug-Hug!" and finished the day with a big enthusiastic "Touchdown"! No kidding!

I highly recommend local mature job seekers to contact Training Innovations for the upcoming class in early October. You'll not regret it!

Sarah Greenwood and Monica Kristiansen, respectively, Program Coordinator and Workplace Training Specialist, are professional mentors of the Encore Program. Their dedication and meticulous guidance is the reason our group is re-entering the work force sooner than we expected. My heart felt thank you to Training Innovations for their excellent service!
