Welcome to my inaugural monthly business column where I will share with you interesting bits of news pertaining to our business community.
Sea to Sky Adventure Co. has become the first Squamish-based company to be fully permitted to run mountain bike tours on Crown land and in Garibaldi Park. They also recently began renting out stand-up paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, etc., at Alice Lake, after having received the concession from B.C. Parks. Fun, fun, fun!
I am happy to announce the first-ever partnership between a hotel and an adventure company in Squamish: The Executive Suites Hotel and Resort has partnered with Canadian Outback Tours to give guests the opportunity for an adventure tour that they will not forget "Run the Rapids." Canadian Outback Tours-Rafting has moved their base operations to the resort, where guests will have the opportunity to make reservations, receive onsite instructions, view rafting demos, receive transportation to the river's edge and offerings of rafting pictures and videos after the trip.
Join me in congratulating Mark and the team at our own Squamish Toyota, who in their second year of operation received The 2011 Toyota Pinnacle Award. This is a coveted award, given to the dealership that has achieved the highest customer satisfaction rating in both sales and service for B.C. Well done, Mark and team!
Thomas the Tank Engine attracted around 10,000 guests during its recent run over two weekends. That is a lot of tourists into our town, buying gifts, staying in our hotels, purchasing meals in our restaurants - a huge impact on our town. Thanks for coming, Thomas!
After a few months' reprieve, Julianna has re-opened the doors of Whistle Stop Boutique on Cleveland Avenue, a beautiful new addition to downtown. Pop in and say hi if you haven't already.
Also on the downtown front, Scotiabank has a new branch manager and Lynn Bagley has returned after a leave of absence. Welcome back, Lynn!

Atwell Dental is having a grand opening party July 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at No. 8, 40437 Tantalus Rd. in the Spectacle Building.
Clint Dickinson is now the manager of Squamish Rona, as well as being the current manager of the Whistler store.
The staff at Pearl's Place will soon celebrate the store's one-year anniversary since their renovation.
Being a flower lover myself, I am thrilled that Jill of Windflower has opened a second location outside of Nesters at Squamish Station Mall. There is now no reason to not bring fresh flowers home.
