TORONTO — A look at Robin Fraser, Toronto FC's new head coach:

Age: 58.

Background: Born in Kingston, Jamaica. Moved to Miami as a child.

As a Player: Began his pro career in the American Soccer League before joining Major League Soccer for its 1996 inaugural season. Played for the Los Angeles Galaxy (1996-2000), Colorado Rapids (2001-03) and Columbus Crew (2004-05). Twice named MLS Defender of the Year (1999, 2004) and a five-time MLS all-star. Won Supporters’ Shield twice and CONCACAF Champions Cup once. Named one of The 25 Greatest players in MLS history in December 2020. Won 27 caps for the U.S.

Coaching Career: Head coach with Chivas USA (2011, 2012) and the Colorado Rapids (2019-23). Runner-up for MLS coach of the year with Colorado in 2021. Assistant coach with Real Salt Lake (2007-11), New York Red Bulls (2013, 2014) and Toronto FC (2015-19).
