The SEAandSKY master-planned community aims to help the growing housing shortage in Squamish, B.C.

There’s no question as to why people want to live in Squamish, with its stunning natural beauty, quick access to the mountains and trails and the draw of the town’s thriving food and craft beer scene, there’s no denying its magnetism.

However, this growing influx of people means Squamish is grappling with a housing shortage, with a vacancy rate that Statistics Canada rates at under 1%.

With a population projected to grow to 29,575 by 2036, put plainly, Squamish needs more homes. That said, a silver lining is on the horizon, with two new purpose-built rental buildings at the SEAandSKY development by Bosa Properties and Kingswood Properties nearing completion, set to welcome renters this fall.

The new buildings offer spacious one and two-bedroom suites for people looking to call Squamish home.

Purpose-built, these suites are made for those looking to make the most of outdoor life in Squamish. Ideally combining nature and nurture, each unit comes equipped with additional storage, bike wash stations within the buildings and mountain views from every suite.

Additionally, considering the fact that dogs nearly outnumber people in Squamish, there’s an increasing demand for pet-friendly homes. Renters will be glad to know that all of these new suites are pet-friendly, plus dog wash stations in each building make it easy to spray off muddy paws before they step inside.

Upon completion, residents will also be able to make use of a 19,000 square-foot future amenity centre with an outdoor pool and hot tub, gymnasium with a half-court basketball court, fitness centre, steam room, sauna, social lounges and shared spaces to spend time with neighbours.

The new rental units are part of the SEAandSKY community which is already home to 500 residents. Spanning 53 acres, the community is connected to more than 2 km of parks and trails and will soon be connected directly to downtown Squamish by a pedestrian bridge.
