Susan Chapelle and Zanny Venner have identified an opportunity to respond to the growing challenges and restructuring of the local Squamish economy. They have opened a hub to support local economic growth through connected spaces where people, projects, and place intersect and can connect to larger networks.

They feel that coworking is the future of community engagement, startup ideation and business incubation.

The registered not-for-profit is both a physical space offering affordable and flexible shared and private downtown office space for small-medium sized businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as a community space for people to focus on their businesses and organizations, while Aligned Collective facilitates the operational logistics.

“People need a productive and creative space to work and connect,” explains Venner.

“Many people are still working in their homes, in coffee shops, and commuting. You need space to convene and to run into diverse and talented professionals who are going to support the growth of your business.”

Fuelled by curiosity, and a shared passion for economic development, Chapelle and Venner are curating events to spark discussion that brings together the community with experts in diverse fields. Aligned Collective is about coworking, but also about unique experiences in order to support a healthy, diverse and inclusive community.

Their combined experiences in the social-impact arena amplify their capacity to launch and manage a successful coworking and community hub. Those looking for flexible desk, office or meeting space can sign-up by downloading the Aligned Collective application online.
