Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector veteran Steve Lowry has taken the reins as CEO at Vancouver's Broadsight Technology Corp.

Lowry co-founded the Artificial Intelligence Network of B.C. (AInBC) and was its CEO until September. He also served as a corporate development consultant at Hootsuite Inc. and was a director of business development at Clio (Themis Solutions Inc.), according to his LinkedIn profile. Lowry was also at the ill-fated Silicon Valley Bank as vice-president of technology banking until its demise in 2023.

He told BIV that Broadsight's technology uses AI to help communications teams track progress and success of marketing campaigns. Its approximately 15 clients can use the platform to track press releases sent to media as well as responses and follow-ups with reporters.

So far the company has been bootstrapped with some friends-and-family financing but Lowry anticipates there being an angel-investor funding round this quarter, which could raise hundreds of thousands of dollars. A larger investor round could come later this year or next year, he added.

He plans to work closely with Broadsight co-founder Kurt Heinrich and chief technology officer John-Jose Nunez, he said. The company has about nine staff including those men, he said.

"Broadsight was built from the ground up to support the unique workflows, hopes and dreams of communications teams," said Heinrich. "Media relations, issues and external comms teams have been struggling too long without the right tools to get the job done. In the coming year, we’ll be rolling out more AI-driven features designed to help communications teams streamline their work and show their impact."
