The Cougars of the Squamish Men's Hockey League are league champions.

The championship round was the best of three against the Stars. The Cougars won the first game 3-2 and the second game 7-1 on Saturday, according to the team's spokesperson, Jody Hopkins.

The team was formed three years ago from a group of local kids who played minor hockey in Squamish as Eagles, Hopkins said.

This is the second time they have won the championship in three years. They were also the regular-season champs.

The Squamish Men’s Hockey League is part of the Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL), sanctioned by Hockey Canada. The games are played at Brennan Park Recreation Centre arena.
