'Crave' fundraiser set

Nov. 3 event to raise money for Helping Hands Society

The Squamish Helping Hands Society is hosting a fundraising event with a difference on Saturday, Nov. 3, at The CN Roundhouse, West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish.

Crave: Dining for Dignity aims to raise awareness about homelessness and food access issues in Sea to Sky Corridor while featuring the culinary artistry of local chefs paired with some of B.C.'s finest wine and beer.

The event, in its second year, is a fundraiser for the society's effort to establish a permanent home for a permanent drop-in centre and shelter for Squamish's homeless and marginalized people, officials said in a statement.

The event will feature 12 to 15 food stations along with wine and beer pairings, taking patrons on "an amazing gastronomic exploration," organizers said. It will also feature live art and music from the Sea "T" Sky Big Band.

The dress if formal. Tickets are $100, with a $50 charitable donation receipt provided. A safe ride home is also available by donation. Doors open at 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.squamishhelpinghands.ca
