Star Wars: Episode III-Revenge Of The Sith

Director: George Lucas

Cast: Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman

(PG-13, 140 min.)

It's almost refreshing knowing that you're going to see this movie no matter what I have to say about it. Revenge of the Sith thus ends perhaps the biggest movie franchise in history. As such many of us (myself included) have far too much time and treasured childhood memories invested not to see the final act. What speaks volumes about this particular effort is the fact that the bar has been set so low. Episode I and II were such complete and utter and pathetic letdowns that by comparison it made even Maria Carey movies watchable.

That said, this film is indeed better than the two previous. However, with the bar set to "completely unwatchable garbage" it's almost impossible to disappoint.

One thing we can take away from this whole experience is the knowledge that George Lucas is beyond a shadow of a doubt the absolute worst dialogue writer in the known universe. Feces-throwing monkeys produce more watchable moments than any of George's written dialogue. Amnesty International should warn people to cover their ears especially whenever Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen are forced to chisel out their hackneyed words.

The only thing saving the film is the mind-blowing, unrelenting eye candy action scenes - and the knowledge that after this, it's all over; you'll never have to sit through another disappointing Star Wars movie again.
