After weeks of rehearsals, the large cast of the musical My Favourite Broadway is ready to take to the stage for the first eight performances beginning tonight (March 3) at the Eagle Eye Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

After weeks of rehearsals, the large cast of the musical My Favourite Broadway is ready to take to the stage for the first eight performances beginning tonight (March 3) at the Eagle Eye Theatre at 7:30 p.m. What a huge undertaking it has been for director Ryan Mooney and his talented crew. Show times are also on Saturday (March 4) and March 8 to 11 at 7:30 p.m. along with matinées on Saturdays, March 4 and 11 at 2 p.m. The ticket outlet is at Billie's Bouquet at $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and $10 for children.



This evening (March 3) is also the World Day of Prayer service at St. John's Anglican Church at 7:30 p.m. The theme, Signs of the Times, was written by the women of South Africa. It was prepared and adapted for use in Canada by the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada. An invitation is extended to all members of our community to attend. Following the service, refreshments will be served.



Many bowlers will be participating in the Big Brothers/Sisters of Squamish in the annual bowling fundraiser. Teams get into action tonight (March 3) at Garibaldi Lanes at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. On Friday, March 10 bowlers will also be in action. There is still time to get your team together or register as an individual to get on a team. Karen at 604-892-3125 would love to hear from interested participants. Non-bowlers can make a pledge in support of this fundraiser too. Drop by the lanes and urge your favourite team to victory. There is also a silent auction and door prizes.



The next distribution day for the Squamish Food Bank is Wednesday (March 8) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Trinity Hall, Squamish United Church on Fourth Avenue. This month's contribution is sponsored by Golder Associates as part of the employee Christmas bonus program. The company is involved with highway construction in this area.



The Sea to Sky Family and Child Care Conference takes place at Brennan Park Recreation Centre tomorrow (March 4). The day-long training event for parents and professionals includes workshops on Making Music with Children, Introduction to American Sign Language, The High/Scope Approach to Problem Solving, and Laughter for Wellness. For those still wishing to attend, registrations will be taken at BPRC at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. The co-sponsoring agencies are: The Squamish Public Library, BPRC and the Child Care Resource and Referral.



Teens are invited to the Squamish Public Library on Tuesday (March 7) at 7 p.m. to celebrate the new improvements to the teen area. Check out the new furniture, teen magazines, graphic novels and CD's. There will be cake, refreshments and draw prizes!



Pam Potts from Rise and Pay Preschool as well as Save-On-Foods will present a clinic in the store's parking lot on Tuesday (March 7) or Thursday (March 9) from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The children at the preschool will have their own Wee Care Kids clinic with the boys and girls dressed as doctors. They will be on hand to give health check-ups by donation and a sucker for being a good sport. Let's support the youngsters and the Children's Hospital!



The Hearts in Motion Walking Club will meet at Tim Hortons on Friday, March 10 at 9:30 a.m. for a trail walk. For more info give me a call at 604-815-0152.



The 2006 High School Reunion Committee would like people to know that the 1947-1963 high school reunion will take place in September. Another letter with regard to this event will be sent out in mid April. Letters will only be sent to those people who have replied. Those who received a letter and did not reply must do so now in order to be included in this reunion. Tomorrow (March 4) the annual Brackendale Documentary Film Festival will be held in the Brackendale Art Gallery at 8 p.m. Admission at the door is $10.The monthly GrassRoots Jam will be held at the Art Gallery on Sunday (March 5) from 7:30 to 10 p.m. An open invitation is extended to all.



Those experiencing loss through death are invited to participate in a six-week facilitated bereavement group that provides support and education. It will start Tuesday, March 14 to Tuesday, April 18. To register or for more information, please contact Wendy at 604-898-4981.



Spring Break is coming up the week of March 13 to 17 and during that time, the Brennan Park Recreation Centre is holding a Spring Break Camp for seven to 12 year olds from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Activities will include games, swimming, skating, crafts and sports. Register at the Centre or call 604-898-3604 for more information.



The Squamish Public Library's Storytime programs wrap up on March 6 and 8. Registration for the spring session starts Monday, March 27 at 1 p.m. by phone or in person. The programs will commence on April 3.
