The Squamish Olympic Coordinating Committee wants some input.
The committee is holding a special forum on Thursday (Jan. 29) to listen to residents. The three-person committee is asking residents to come to the meeting and indicate what locals want out of the Olympics.
Mayor Ian Sutherland is on the committee with Greg Gardner and Owen Carney. Chamber of Commerce manager Karen Hodson and Economic Development Officer Lee Malleau are acting as resource people for Carney, Gardner and Sutherland.
The information-gathering forum is being held at the Sea to Sky Hotel between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.Those attending the meeting will be asked to share ideas on how Squamish can benefit from the games. The committee is looking for thoughts on Squamish can benefit before, during and after the two-week event.
Vancouver was chosen on July 2, 2003 as the host city for the 2010 Olympics. The 2010 bid corporation said Squamish will host a cultural festival for young people from around the world during the Olympics.
