The Squamish Volunteer Centre Society is inviting all local Non-Profit Organizations/Community Groups and their volunteers to the Squamish Volunteer Appreciation Evening at the Squamish Adventure Centre on Wednesday, April 26 (Time TBA). Come to enjoy complimentary refreshments, live entertainment, a showcase of local art projects by children and youth, and to thank and honour your volunteers

The week of April 23 to 29 has been declared National Volunteer Week, a week dedicated to honouring and recognizing Canadians who volunteer.

Organizations are welcome to become involved in the appreciation evening. The SVC Society would be thrilled to have groups provide a brief presentation to honour their volunteers, and/or provide their thoughts about the value of volunteerism. Groups that would like to get involved can contact Emery at the Hotspot at 815-4121 or email [email protected].

The SVC Society would also like to determine the economic impact that volunteers had on the community of Squamish in 2005. To assist in this effort, local non-profit organizations and community groups are requested to provide the SVC Society with the number of volunteer hours that were contributed within their organization last year. The monetary value of these hours will be calculated, and during the Appreciation Evening, will be symbolically presented to the District of Squamish in recognition of the actual economic and social impact that volunteerism represents in Squamish. Forms are available at the Hotspot at 38027 Cleveland Ave, or can be completed online at (Click on the Log Volunteer Hours link on the left).
