Missing person: B.C. man could be in the Sea to Sky area

Scott Phillips was reported missing on Sept. 29 and could be in the Sea to Sky area.

Surrey RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in locating missing person Scott Phillips.

Phillips was reported missing to police on Sept. 29, 2024.

He was last seen on Sept. 27 at a business in the Park and Tilford Mall area in North Vancouver but could be in the Sea to Sky area, according to Squamish SAR, who posted about the man on social media.

A Surrey RCMP press release describes Phillips as:

  • 43-year-old Caucasian male
  • Six-foot-one in height
  • 200 lbs
  • Short brown hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Multiple tattoos on his legs and arms, including a distinctive tattoo of the word OKAY on his fingers of his left hand
  • Last seen wearing a black hoodie, black shorts, sneakers and a dark hat

“Scott may be driving his black Kia Sorento, British Columbia licence plate WB354A and he is known to frequent the Cypress Mountain area,” the press release states.

“Scott is an experienced outdoor enthusiast and he is known to camp in the backcountry,” Sgt. Tammy Lobb said in the release.

“We are asking the public to keep an eye out for Scott and his vehicle in the backcountry, on trails, or on forest service roads.”

Squamish Search and Rescue shared an Instagram story on Oct. 10 urging residents and visitors to keep an eye out for Phillips in Squamish and across the Sea to Sky corridor. 

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-145836.
