If you were planning to go to the city today or are expecting someone to come home from Vancouver, it may be a long wait.
Squamish RCMP say there was a six-car accident on Highway 99 near Murrin Park, just south of Squamish, at about 1:30 p.m.
There are injuries, but, thus far, none are life-threatening, police say.
As of 3 p.m., on Jan. 6, the highway is shut down in both north and southbound directions and will likely take some time to reopen.
BC Highway Patrol, Fire Services, Emergency Health Services, and Miller Capilano are also on scene for a co-ordinated response.
“So far, weather and road conditions appear to be a factor,” says Cpl. Angela Kermer of Squamish RCMP. “We will ensure people’s safety and follow up with our investigation as to the cause.”
Squamish RCMP ask anyone with any information regarding this crash or any crime to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to www.solvecrime.ca.
