Quest ranks No. 1 in five categories

Results of a North America-wide survey of university students have confirmed Squamish's Quest University as the top-ranked institution in Canada in five categories, officials announced this week.

Results of a North America-wide survey of university students have confirmed Squamish's Quest University as the top-ranked institution in Canada in five categories, officials announced this week.

Last November, when preliminary results of the 2011 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) of first- and fourth-year students were released, Quest officials said the survey "confirms the leading position we have gained in undergraduate education in North America."

In a statement released on Monday (Feb. 13), officials at the fifth-year institution said the full ranking of scores among the 67 Canadian universities surveyed placed Quest at the top in five categories: level of academic challenge, inclusion of enriching educational experiences, intensity of student-faculty interaction, use of active and collaborative learning, and existence of a supportive campus environment.

"We are delighted to see that we have, by a considerable margin, the highest ranking in Canada, confirming the leading position we have gained in less than five short years as we've set out to create a new model for undergraduate education in North America," Quest President Dr. David Helfand said.

Quest graduated its first class of undergraduates in the spring of 2011. Quest currently has 350 students, having welcomed its largest incoming class, 146 students, in the fall of 2011.
