Thefts from vehicles

Officers are reminding people to lock up their cars, after several cases of thefts from "unsecured vehicles."

In one case, someone entered two cars parked along Lanark Road and stole a flash drive and a small amount of money, officers say.

Government Road proved to be the site of three more alleged thefts, as police say owners who parked their cars on the 39000-block had their cars either entered or broken into.

The suspects took insurance papers and a backpack, RCMP say.

In another case, an alleged thief took a wallet from a truck and used debit and credit cards at local businesses before the owner cancelled them.

Internet Fraud

Internet fraud schemes have ensnared several locals, police say.

In one case, someone was scammed by a pop-up ad that claimed the user needed to pay for virus protection, officers say.

In another, fraudsters posing as an acquaintance to the victim sent an email asking them to buy Google Play Cards and email the activation codes.

Community Patrols

Police are patrolling Squamish streets to prevent crime, officers say.

Among other things, the patrols search for drug paraphernalia in public areas, conduct impaired driving checks and check in on people to ensure they are abiding by court-imposed conditions, RCMP say.
