Three special intensive programs are coming to Capilano University’s (CapU) Squamish campus this summer.

The Environmental Stewardship and Responsible Tourism Management, Learn to Code and Environmental Field Studies programs were announced on Feb. 19 by CapU.

This will give Squamish students an opportunity to combine “education with adventure.”

“The summer intensives offer an opportunity to experience CapU Squamish as a destination in a unique and stunning part of B.C.,” CapU Squamish associate vice-president, Brian Storey said in a news release.

“Our goal is to ignite imagination and spark learning in a way that’s engaging and unforgettable.”

Folks interested in the Environmental Stewardship and Responsible Tourism Management program can expect to “explore the relationship between individuals, society and the natural world as it pertains to sustainable practices in tourism and environmental management through an innovative hybrid format.”

It will run online from May 12 to July 11 and then in person at Squamish campus from June 7 to 15.

The Learn to Code program will run from July 6 to 18 and will allow participants to “dive into the world of programming with an engaging introduction to coding fundamentals.”

Environmental Field Studies students will get the chance to “explore the local biodiversity through place-based and experiential learning opportunities from July 20 to Aug. 1.

According to CapU, the summer program intensives will allow individuals to immerse themselves in specific subjects within a short timeframe.

These programs will run in addition to CapU Squamish’s current programming, which includes adult basic education, arts, business administration, early childhood care and education, and interdisciplinary studies.

Participants will also be offered the opportunity to stay at student housing residences on campus, with meals provided by Whistler Cooks.

Full course descriptions, prerequisites, program fees, and registration details can be found on the Capilano University website, along with information about the university’s Fall 2025 schedule.
