The crash occurred around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19 but saw Highway 99 re-open again just short of an hour later.

“Highway 99 is open in both directions approximately 2 km south of Chance Creek following a vehicle recovery from an incident. Watch for crews that may still be on scene,” reads a DriveBC event update

Drive with caution

Wet and snowy conditions can increase the risk of accidents when driving, so DriveBC is encouraging anyone on the roads today to use extra caution and “drive slower.”

A rainfall warning is in effect for the Squamish region today and tonight, with 50 to 70 millimetres of rainfall expected.

Between Oct. 1 and March 31, winter tires or chains are required on the Sea to Sky Highway.

"Passenger vehicles and light trucks need to use tires that have the three-peaked mountain and snowflake symbol or 'M+S' on the sidewall. This applies to two-wheel, all-wheel, and four-wheel drive vehicles. The tires need to be in good condition and have a tread depth of at least 3.5 mm (5/32”)," reads the 4 Road Safety at Work site.

"Designated winter tires are your best option for staying safe in winter conditions. We recommend using a set of four matched winter tires with the three-peaked mountain and snowflake symbol."
