Briefs from the Squamish RCMP:

Squamish RCMP are looking for information regarding the theft of a solar-powered sign from Hwy 99 on Jan. 16. Cpl. Dave Ritchie of the local detachment said sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. a large sign, which gives motorists information about construction delays, was hauled away from its location near Alice Lake.

"That would have required a heavy truck and knowledge of how to disassemble the mechanics," he said. "The sign weighs about 5,000 pounds and is usually transported on a two-wheeled trailer."

On Wednesday (Jan.18) Ritchie reported the sign had been located by RCMP, and it had been disassembled somewhat and was missing its solar panels.
