The Sea to Sky's young guns were out in full force in Austria.
Squamish's Dane Jewett (3:24.959) and Pemberton's Tegan Cruz (3:25.337) finished within half a second of each other on June 25 to lead Crankworx Innsbruck's U19 downhill podium for men. Cruz barely edged out Sun Peaks athlete Brock Hawes (3:25.557), who rounded out the top three.
Dylan Marino of Whistler was right there, notching another fifth-place performance (3:28.707).
"So stoked to end the week on a high and take the win in the downhill! Really looking forward to Val Di Sole," said Jewett on his Instagram account post-race. "Congrats to everyone at Pivot Factory Racing for the amazing week."

In the men's elite downhill, Jakob Jewett added another medal to his trophy case. He raced to bronze (3:20.362) behind British contender Bernard Kerr (3:19.321) and Oliver Zwar of Sweden (3:19.607).
It's been a good outing for the elder Jewett, who won dual slalom gold just days ago.
"Third place in the [Crankworx downhill]!" said Jakob on social media. "What an awesome way to end a good week of riding bikes! Let’s keep the momentum going from here!"
Gracey Hemstreet did not start the women's elite downhill. With no Canadians in the mix, the medallists consisted of Austrian Valentina Holl in first, American Anna Newkirk in second and Phoebe Gale of Great Britain in third.
Likewise, the women's U19 race did not feature Canada. Two Aussies, Georgia Henness (first) and Zali Miklas (third) bookended Julia Edtbauer of Austria (second) on that particular podium.
