St. John's Anglican Church has a special Gala Centennial Celebrations weekend planned from Friday to Sunday, July 12 to 14. A Choral Evensong with special music from Taize and the worldwide Anglican Communion is planned on July 12 at 7:30 p.m. An open house is scheduled on Saturday (July 13) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will showcase the history of the church in stories and exhibits. Special guest Bishop Michael Ingham and current minister, Rev. The celebration continues on Saturday at 6 p.m. with a traditional salmon barbecue along with entertainment and a tribute to Bishop Ingham to follow. Tickets are $40 and available at St. John's or at On the Farm Country Market. On Sunday at 10 a.m. a Festive Service of Word, sacrament, song and celebration with Bishop Ingham and honoured guests will remember fondly the first 100 years of St. John's Church in our community.
The Squamish Public Library's Summer Reading Club for children six to 12 years is again in the capable hands of coordinator Kimi Cochlin, Kevin Souza and Shelby Jenkins. Weekly sign-ups are every Friday at 10 a.m.
Always a fun day at the seniors centre is the annual Hot Dog Day that also includes corn and beverages. It will be held on Monday (July 8) at noon. It is a free event but please take along a salad or dessert to be shared and you are asked to sign up at the front desk. A bocce tournament is planned at the centre on Thursday (July 11) at 10 a.m. No experience is necessary.
The monthly Acoustic Jam at the Brackendale Art Gallery is always a fun time for the participants and those who come to enjoy the music and singing. Plan to be at the BAG on Sunday (July 7) from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

A bus trip to Bowen Island is planned for seniors on Monday, July 15, departing from the seniors centre at 8:45 a.m. and walking onto the ferry at 10 a.m. Please note, the trip is wheelchair- and walker-accessible.
